CUSTER, S.D. – Area athletes competed at the Custer Track and Field Meet Thursday.
In boys results:
Kort Nicolaus of Douglas won the 100 meter dash and Aiden Giffin of Belle Fourche captured the 200 meters. Winning the 400 meters was Reece Barritt of Upton and Sawyer Clarkson of Belle Fourche won the 800 meters.
In the long distance races, Gage Grohs of Custer won the 1,600 meters and Clarkson won another running event, captured the 3,200.
Warren Russel of Hot Springs swept the hurdles, winning the 110 and 300 meters.
Winning the relay races were Custer in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400, Lead-Deadwood winning the 4 x 200, and Sturgis winning the 4 x 800.
Winning the field events were Jason Maciejczak of Douglas capturing the shot put and discus, Dosen Ellmore of Custer won the javelin, Lucas Brooks of Upton won the high jump, Winston Prill of St Thomas More won the pole vault, Bryce Swanson captured the RC Stevens and Luca Brooks of Upton took the triple jump.
In girls results;
Meredith Ramaker of Hot Springs won the 100 meters, Portia Wiebers of New Underwood captured the 200, Ramsey Karim of Custer took the 400 and Hallie Person of Lead-Deadwood got the 800.
Kadense Dolley of Custer won the 1,600 meters.
Jaylen Nachtigall of Hot Springs swept the hurdles, winning the 100 and 300 meters.
Winning the relay races were Custer in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400, Belle Fourche in the 4 x 200, and Hot Springs in the 4 x 800.
In field events;
Kellyn Kortemeyer of Custer won the shot put and discus throw, Lamara Castaneda of Douglas won the javelin, Carlie DeBoer of Hot Springs captured the high jump, Ciana Stiefel of Custer won the pole vault, Jaylen Nachtigall of Hot Springs won the long jump and Maddie Mills of Upton won the triple jump.
