DEADWOOD, S.D. – According to statistics released by the South Dakota Commission on Gaming, the August 2021 gaming handle showed an 18.63 percent increase over August 2020, with slot machine handle increasing by 18.49 percent when compared to August 2020. The table game handle increased by 20.78 percent when compared to 2020 August’s table game handle. Deadwood gaming operators rewarded players with $1,300,435 in “free-play” for the month of August, leaving taxable adjusted gross revenues of $13,195,622 for August of 2021. Deadwood’s August YTD numbers put 2021 revenues up 40.04% over 2020 and up 29.84% over 2019.
“August’s outstanding revenue performance continues to build on the story of 2021 as a record-breaking year for Deadwood,” said Mike Rodman, executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association. “With the successful launch of sports wagering recently, Deadwood should continue its strong performance.”
