Authorities arrest two juveniles in connection with vehicle thefts

STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office says they aided the Summerset Police Department, Highway Patrol and Rapid City Police Department in apprehending two juveniles in connection with several motor vehicle thefts.

Sergeant Caleb Deyo with the Meade County Sheriff’s Office says law enforcement pursued individuals near I-90 Exit 46 fleeing west into the tree line on Tuesday morning.

He says these suspects were believed to be involved in several motor vehicle thefts as well as vehicle burglaries in Rapid City, Black Hawk, Summerset and Piedmont.

Law enforcement caught up with the two males and they were taken into custody just to the north of where the foot pursuit had began.

Both males had alleged stolen items in their possession to include firearms.

Deyo says three stolen vehicles have been recovered, along with five firearms that were stolen from vehicles during the early morning hours.

A black, 2015 Ford F150 with South Dakota License plate of 15T492 stolen out of Summerset remains missing at this time.

Anyone with information or who may be a victim of the thefts, are encouraged to contact law enforcement.

Because the two suspects are juveniles, their names are not being released.
