Authorities identify persons killed in Walworth, Hughes County crashes

PIERRE, S.D. – A four-year-old male from Pierre has been identified as the person who died in a one-vehicle crash Sunday night east of Pierre.

A 2000 Nissan Maxima was northbound on West Bend Road when it left the roadway, went into the east ditch and rolled. Two of the three occupants were ejected from the vehicle. None of the occupants were wearing seat belts.

One passenger, Evrik Plenty Chief, was pronounced dead at the Pierre hospital. The female driver, 24-year-old Emerald Plenty Chief of Pierre, and the second male passenger, 19-year-old Dakota Abraham of Harrold, were both treated at the Pierre hospital after suffering serious non-life threatening injuries.

Charges are pending against the driver.

Meanwhile,

A 15-year-old female has been identified as the person who died Sunday afternoon in an ATV crash southeast of Selby.

A 2017 Polaris Ranger XP 900 EPS ATV was northbound on 308th Avenue, which is a gravel road, when the driver, Tori Fiedler of Selby, lost control. The vehicle rolled and the driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the ATV. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
