Authorities identify woman charged in pedestrian death

DEADWOOD, S.D. – The woman arrested for allegedly striking and killing a pedestrian in a Deadwood crosswalk has been identified as 26-year-old Brittany Diana Sneesby.

Court documents indicate Sneesby was arrested on charges of vehicular homicide, D.U.I., and speeding.

Sneesby is accused of driving an S.U.V. on U.S. Highway 14A in Deadwood on December 13 at a high rate of speed when she struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk at the intersection with Main Street.

The pedestrian, identified as 38-year-old Brandon Pressley, died as a result of the accident.

Evidence at the scene allegedly indicated Sneesby was intoxicated and field sobriety tests were conducted on her. She was then placed under arrest.

If convicted of the vehicular homicide charge, Sneesby could face up to 15 years in prison.
