KADOKA S.D. – Authorities in Jackson County say a 3-year-old girl and her dog are home safe after being missing for six hours Monday afternoon.
Jackson County Sheriff Matt Haugen says the girl went missing shortly before 9 a.m. and was found around 3 p.m. The sheriff’s office issued an alert about the girl on its Facebook page.
Several agencies responded to help find the missing child, including several dozen people.
Haugen says first responders from the Kadoka and Philip Volunteer Fire Departments, Philip Ambulance, and Haakon County Sheriff’s Office responded.
He says the Highway Patrol was ready to go with an aircraft, life flight sent out a helicopter, and even a private citizen flew their own aircraft before the girl was eventually found.
