DEADWOOD, S.D. – The Lawrence County Sheriff’s office says a man has been arrested following a shooting that occurred in Lead Tuesday evening.
Authorities say they responded to an address in Lead and found a 55-year-old male who was suffering from gunshot wounds.
The male victim was transported to Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City for medical care. His condition was not released.
In connection with the shooting, authorities arrested 76-year-old Robert Gillis of Lead for attempted homicide. He was reported to have been taken to the Lawrence County jail.
The incident is actively being investigated by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Lead Police Department, Division of Criminal Investigation and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
Authorities say no further details are being released at this time.
