Barbara Jane Hotaling, 80, Box Elder, SD, passed away, at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.

Committal services will be 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD. Visitation to begin at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD.

Barbara Jane Martin was born May 23, 1944, in KS, to Bernard and Mabel Martin. A short time after she was born, her family moved to Nebraska where her father worked on the construction of I-80. They later settled in Lincoln, NE. She graduated from Kearney High School in 1962. While in high school, she met and later married Eldon Hotaling in Lincoln, NE.

Eldon was in the Air Force; she and their family followed his career to many places over the next 26 years. When Eldon retired from the Air Force, they made Box Elder their home. While living in Box Elder Barbara worked for a time in the Douglas School District and raised her family.

Barbara family was the most important thing to her. Barbara and Eldon had three children, Cheryl, Christy, and Carla.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Eldon; daughter, Carla Garland; ten grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by two daughters, Cheryl and Christy.
