“Battle of the Bands” comes to Sturgis

STURGIS, S.D. – The City of Riders will host its first Legendary Battle of the Bands, coming to Sturgis, Saturday, June 3.

Featured will be 12 bands from Tennessee, Colorado, and the Black Hills. The music marathon takes place at Rally Point in Sturgis in conjunction with the Sturgis Art Festival that gets underway at 10 a.m. There will be food and prizes with lots of activities to entertain the entire family.

The battle of competing bands will begin later at 2 p.m. in the afternoon with 15-minute sets and a 15-minute change-over time between each group.

Most music genres are represented at this first annual event. Kaydence Gleason with the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce says the goal of the multi-genre music battle will be to highlight the diverse fine arts in Sturgis.

The family-friendly event is organized by a committee with the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce and aims to bring visitors to Sturgis, enhance the resident experience and support fine arts in the community.
