Becky Hendrickson, age 89 of Belle Fourche, died Saturday, August 3, 2024 at her home, with her loving family by her side.

The funeral service will be held 10:30am Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Belle Fourche Global Methodist Church, with Pastor Sheri Fadley officiating. Visitation will take place 5 to 7pm Thursday at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Interment will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Belle Fourche Ambulance.

Rebecca Ann Merrill was born July 26, 1935 in Belle Fourche. She was the daughter of Charlie and Mary Anna (Brawner) Merrill. Becky was raised in Harding County and graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1954. On November 6, 1954, Becky was united in marriage to Arthur Leroy Hendrickson in Rapid City. To this union was born4 children: Lori, Twyla, Susan, and Jeffrey. Following their marriage, Arthur and Becky lived in Newell for a short time before setting in Colony Wyoming, where Arthur worked for LP Larson. In 1959 the family moved to Belle Fourche and Arthur began working for Tommy Truman at Mobil Oil. In 1982 the business was purchased and renamed, the Hendrickson Oil Company. Arthur died in 1987 at a very young age. Becky was a rock to her family during those hard years without her husband. She worked hard to keep things going, and eventually retired in 2006. In her younger years she did a lot of babysitting, and she cleaned the Bank of Belle Fourche.

Becky was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was great at watching the grandchildren. She was an exception cook and baker, and she taught her girls well. Becky enjoyed making big meals, and many happy meals were enjoyed together. She was kind and giving, and a friend to many. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Becky is survived by her children: Lori (Ricky) Sorrells of Port Deposit Maryland, Twyla (Ken) Nelson of Belle Fourche, Susan (Zane) Kittelmann of Miles City Montana, Jeffery Hendrickson of Belle Fourche; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and her sister-in-law, Lorraine Hendrickson of Gillette WY. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, David and Henry Merrill; and 5 sisters, Mary Jane Stone, Naomi Thiemann, Opia Heikkela, Sarah Merrill, and Vashti McCord.
