Bernhard Winkler, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, departed this world on September 7, 2023.
Born in Manheim, Germany on September 5, 1953, he touched the lives of many with his passion for music, his exceptional talent as a bass player, and his craftsmanship. Bernd, as he was affectionately known to many, had an infectious laugh that could brighten even the darkest of days. His uncanny ability to connect with everyone he met endeared him to countless hearts. Bernhard, preceded in death by his mother, Marianne, is survived by his devoted wife, Donna, and his loving father, Fred. He leaves behind cherished memories for his sisters, Rose, Christine, and brother, Nate. He will forever be remembered by his children, Nick (Amber), John, Missy (Curtis), and Melissa (Robbie), and his adored grandchildren, Madeline, Gabe, Alyse, Berlyn, and Donnie.
In addition to his immediate family, Bernhard will be deeply missed by his former partner, Jean, and a wide circle of friends and acquaintances who were fortunate enough to know him.
Bernd’s life was a symphony of passion, talent, and love. His music filled our hearts with joy, and his craftsmanship left an indelible mark on everything he touched. His legacy of laughter and connection will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held September 23rd at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1273 (VFW) at 420 Main St., Rapid City, SD, 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
