BHSU drops hard fought battle to Fort Lewis in semifinals

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Black Hills State men’s basketball traded blows with No. 2 seed Fort Lewis for all 40 minutes, but ultimately fell 83-78 Friday night.

The Yellow Jackets (25-5, 18-4 RMAC) shot 47.6 percent from the field but were held to 21.7 percent from deep while the Skyhawks converted 22 of 26 from the free throw line.

Joel Scott led the Yellow Jackets, recording his 13th double-double of the year with 29 points and 11 rebounds.

Sindou Cisse was efficient on the floor, making 6-of-9 to finish with 14 points along with seven rebounds, four assists and a steal.

Caelin Hearne also scored in double-figures with 10 points.

Jaeton Hackley had four defensive boards and grabbed a block and a steal while defending FLC leading scorer, Akuel Kot, for most of the game.

PJ Hayes collected five rebounds while Matthew Ragsdale and Ryker Cisarik each finished with four.
