BHSU Football runs over William Jewell; Mines falls to Truman St

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hills State football ran past William Jewell, 38-19 at Lyle Hare Stadium Saturday Afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets (2-0) had a strong game on both sides of the ball and rattled of two touchdown runs of over 75 yards in the fourth quarter.

On offense, quarterback Aidan Willard completed 20 of 29 passing attempts for 217 yards and a touchdown.

Nolan Susel rushed 12 times for three touchdowns and 84 yards. Cameron Goods totaled 97 yards on the ground and scored a touchdown.

Hasaan Williams hauled in 12 catches for 132 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown reception.

The Hardrocker football team hosted Truman State on Saturday in their home opener.

Truman State was able to get the jump on the Hardrockers early in this one scoring touchdowns on their first drive and shortly after on a fumble on touchdown passes from Nolan Hair to Tate Crane and Chris Kerr. Late in the first quarter, the Hardrockers would bounce back with a seven play 70-yard drive. Mason Galbreath had two catches on the drive, with Jeremiah Bridges also connecting with Jayden Johannsen for a 38-yard pickup to cut the Bulldog lead to 13-6.

The Bulldogs would go into halftime with a 20-6 lead after Kerr and Hair would connect for another touchdown in the second quarter.

After an uneventful third quarter, Truman State would expand the lead to 27-6 early in the fourth before the Hardrockers would come storming back towards the end of the quarter with a 14-play 70 yard drive and an 11 play 99-yard drive conducted by Spencer Zur to bring the Hardrockers within seven, 27-20, but the Hardrockers would not recover an attempted onside kick virtually ending it and sending the Hardrockers to 1-1 heading into RMAC play next week.

BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — Mark Gronowski passed for a touchdown and ran for two more scores, Isaiah Davis had 25 carries for 112 yards and South Dakota State held on to beat UC Davis 24-22.

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Lucas Johnson was 22-of-28 passing for 180 yards and a touchdown, and he added two rushing scores to lead Montana past South Dakota 24-7.
