SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hills State men’s basketball defeated New Mexico Highlands 83-70 Friday night at the Donald E. Young Center.
The Yellow Jackets (11-0, 5-0 RMAC) continue their impressive streak to open the season after outrebounding the Cowboys 43-29 and knocking down 11 threes.
Joel Scott put up a double-double performance with 22 points and 11 rebounds to go along with a blocked shot.
Sindou Cisse tallied 19 points, making 7-of-12 from the field while grabbing seven boards.
Adam Moussa was all over the court, totaling seven rebounds, six assists and nine points.
PJ Hayes drained four threes to finish with 16 points, and Matthew Ragsdale totaled 12 points.
Meanwhile, Black Hills State women’s basketball picked up their ninth win over New Mexico Highlands on Friday night, defeating the Cowgirls 57-48.
The Yellow Jackets (9-2, 4-1 RMAC) went 22-of-56 from the floor tonight and 9-of-24 from three-point range while draining 50 percent of their free throws.
The two double-digit scorers for the BHSU ladies tonight were Niki Van Wyk and Haylee Weathersby. Van Wyk led the team with a 15-point performance. She went 5-of-9 on the night, with all five of her shots from three. She also recorded three rebounds, an assist, and a steal on the night.
In other area action, the South Dakota Mines basketball team battled with CSU Pueblo to an overtime, where the Hardrockers emerged victorious, 81-76. The SD Mines women’s basketball team hosted the Thunderwolves of Colorado State University Pueblo on Friday night at the King Center. The Hardrockers lost in double overtime 77-75.
