BHSU women are RMAC Champs due to no contest; men see season end

GOLDEN, Colo. – Black Hills State women’s basketball’s scheduled RMAC Championship game against Colorado Mines has been deemed a no contest due to COVID-19 protocols and will not be played.

As a result, the Yellow Jackets have been named 2021 RMAC Tournament champions for the first time in program history, while earning a bid to the 2021 NCAA Division II National Tournament for the third time in school history, and first since the 2017-18 season.

The RMAC named the All-Tournament team Saturday night with three players from BHSU making the team. Racquel Wientjes made the squad after racking up 50 points, 4 steals, 5 rebounds, and shooting 68.75% throughout the tournament. Morgan Ham was also named to the All-Tournament team after tallying 29 points, seven rebounds, and shooting 46.88% throughout the tournament. Megan Engesser was the final Yellow Jacket named to the squad after totaling 18 points, three steals, seven rebounds, and shooting 45.83% throughout tournament play.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Black Hills State men’s basketball dropped its semifinal matchup with Colorado Mines, 71-64 Friday night.

The Yellow Jackets (11-7) shot 45.3 percent from the field as a team, and 47.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Joel Scott led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds, securing his eighth-career double-double.

Adam Moussa scored 16, going a perfect 5-of-5 from deep and grabbing six boards.

Sindou Cisse tallied a block and a steal while scoring seven.

Trey Whitley added 15 points and Kevin Senghore-Peterson grabbed four rebounds.
