Big run of cattle at Bowman Livestock Market Customer Appreciation Sale

BOWMAN, N.D. – The new owners of Bowman Livestock Marketing are excited about their upcoming Customer Appreciation BBQ and Yearling Special set for Tuesday, September 19, 2023.  Austin Snook, a partner in the business, is the day-to-day manager of the auction market. He’s anticipating a good day.

Snook isn’t new to the auction market business. He partnered with his brother Taylor along with Craig Deveraux to purchase the Buffalo, Wyoming sale barn last year. The purchase of the sale barn in Bowman was made this summer with partners Seth Weishaar, Belle Fourche, South Dakota and Birch Negaard, Sundance, Wyoming.

Bowman Auction Market had its beginnings in 1994 when Cal Klewin, Executive Director of Bowman County Economic Development and others, put together some investors and built the facility. Harry and Gloria Kerr (who sold the auction market to Snook and partners) was involved off and on for quite a few years before Larry Snell talked him into buying it and turning it into the business it is today. During this latest transition, the Bowman County Pioneer wrote, “Honesty is the Best Policy” could have been Harry’s motto and Snook plans to continue that tradition.

Austin grew up on a ranch in northeast Wyoming near Devil’s Tower.  Following high school, he remained on the ranch and worked as a fieldman in the Black Hills area.

He and wife Hannah, along with 16 month-old Creek and 4 month-old Collins live in Hulett, Wyoming where Hannah teaches school. Snook is looking forward to being out in the country to visit with producers.
