Black Friday ice leads to slippery roads and accidents

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Freezing mist and drizzle that made roads slippery on Thanksgiving Day continued into Friday in the Rapid City area.

Both Meade and Pennington Emergency Management say law enforcement have been responding to accidents most of the morning.

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office says there is no travel advised in the Rapid City area, including I-90, Highway 79 and Highway 44.

On I-90 near Rapid City, a semi truck jack-knifed and was blocking the westbound lane.The accident at mile marker 64 was forcing traffic to detour around the crash at Exit 67. Crews had the truck removed and reopened the lane around 9:00 a.m.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
