Black Hawk fire crews put out kitchen fire in mobile home

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Black Hawk area fire crews responded to a structure fire Friday morning.

According to Captain Jaden Mitzel of the Black Hawk Fire Department, shortly before 9:30 a.m., a call was received reporting a structure fire at the Sunnyside Mobile Home Court in Black Hawk.

Crews arriving on scene found heavy smoke coming from a trailer. The fire was located and contained to the kitchen area, where most of the damage took place.

Water had to be brought in due to lack of fire hydrants. The fire was extinguished, but smoke damage was reported in the rest of the house.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
