STURGIS, S.D. The 14th annual Black Hills 100 ultramarathon is happening on Friday, June 28 and Saturday, June 29, 2024 on the Centennial #89 Trail in the Black Hills. This challenging 100-mile course begins and ends at the Sturgis City Park and includes a 16,000 feet elevation gain.
525 runners representing 38 states, three Canadian provinces, and two international countries, Greece and Egypt, are arriving to participate in the event this year. In addition to the 100-mile race, the Black Hills 100 also includes 50 mile, 50 kilometer, and 30 kilometer race distances.
Black Hills 100 Race Directors, Chris Stores and Ryan Phillips, say, “Over the last 14 years, the Black Hills 100 has earned a reputation as one of the toughest ultramarathons in the West. Although the Black Hills lack the high elevation of similar events in Wyoming, Utah, California, Washington, Oregon, and Colorado, the course makes up for it with many ups and downs that eventually take their toll.”
The 100-mile runners begin their race on Friday, June 28 at 10 AM at the Sturgis City Park. Top runners are expected to finish the race on the morning of Saturday, June 29. Runners have until 8 PM Saturday to finish.
