PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Health Department reported 1,358 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday with 429 of those listed under the probable category.
Active cases saw a slight decrease today to 34,753, but the number of people hospitalized due to the virus was back up over 400 to 404.
Five new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,628. Two of the new deaths were out of the Black Hills area with one out of Butte County and another out of Lawrence County.
New cases across the Black Hills included 210 out of Pennington County. Of those, 90 were considered as probable.
Meade County had 59 new cases with 7 probable and Lawrence County added 36 new cases with 3 probable.
Elsewhere, Butte County reported 17 new cases, Fall River County added 30, Custer County listed 13, Oglala Lakota County had 7 and one new case was reported out of Harding County.
