The Rapid City, South Dakota-based company said it had profit of $1.23 per share.
The energy company posted revenue of $486.4 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported profit of $227.6 million, or $3.65 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.7 billion.
Black Hills expects full-year earnings to be $3.80 to $4 per share.
Black Hills shares have risen roughly 2% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $62.48, a decline of 26% in the last 12 months.
