Blizzard causes power outages in Rapid City area

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Saturday’s blizzardcaused some power outages in the Rapid City area Saturday night.

As of 8:45 pm, Electric power restoration was completed for Black Hills Energy 1,420 customers in the Northeast and Southeast areas of Rapid City.

The outages are due to severe snow and blizzard conditions traveling through the Black Hills region.

Black Hills Energy crews have responded to outages with restoration completed around 8:00 pm for 510 customers in the Northeast area of Rapid City.

Crews completed the remaining 910 customers located in the Southeast area of town at 8:45 pm.

Crews were on the lookout Saturday night for any small scale outages that may occur. Black Hills Energy crews will then return Sunday morning to compete any remaining outages.
