Western South Dakota's Only Ranch Station
Bobbie Faye (Brownlow) Wilson

Bobbie Faye (Brownlow) Wilson

Bobbie Faye (Brownlow) Wilson, was born December 26, 1932 in Daugherty, TX, the daughter of Emory Isaac (Buck) and Faye (Russell) Brownlow. She went to be with Jesus at home with her loving family by her side on August 17th 2024.

She was rich with aunts, uncles, and cousins. The families moved to Hereford, TX in 1946.  Bobbie graduated in May 1950 and then attended Draughon’s School of Business in Amarillo, TX.

In 1950, the Wilson clan moved to the ranch near Faith.  Larry went back to Texas in 1951 to marry Bobbie.  They worked for her dad the first two summers as part of a custom combine crew, living in the back of one of the grain trucks.  1953 found them back in South Dakota working on a dairy farm near Sturgis.  Their first daughter, Robin, was born at that time and three weeks later they moved to the ranch near Faith where they have lived for 70 years.  Peggy, Patti, and JoDee were soon to follow and Mark was adopted into the family in 1970.  Bobbie considered her role as a rancher’s wife and a mother to be her primary career.
The Cottonwood School community was very important to her. Fun memories were made during drought years with a roving game of baseball. During winters, card parties and the   school Christmas programs helped cement the friendships and the community became more of a family than a neighborhood.
Bobbie was always open to friends and acquaintances alike. She took great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Every time any of them visited there was always room for a child on her lap, uncounted hugs, and her abundant love of these “precious souls” as she always called them.
Bobbie has a profound love for Christ and wants everyone to know Him. In her last days, she continually asked everyone if they knew Jesus. She rejoiced and found comfort with every confirmation of faith.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Larry Wilson, Faith, SD, Robin (Kim) Jones, Faith, SD; Peggy (Phil) McQuirk, Vale, SD; Patti (Mark) Traxler, Franklin, TN; JoDee (Joseph) Foreman, Watford City, ND, Mark, OKC, OK and “everyone’s favorite uncle” Johnny Wayne (Janice) Brownlow, Hereford, TX, special mention to Curt (Lynn) Brownlow, nephew, Cathy (Brownlow) Gilter, niece, Hereford TX and Brenda McGinnis, special friend. Bobbie is the proud Grammy to 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her passing was preceded by her parents, Emory Isaac and Merle Faye Brownlow, two brothers, James and Emory, a sister, Doris and her great-granddaughter, Abigail Rose Fried.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bobbie’s favorite charity organization, Mountain States Children’s Home. Contributions can be sent online at https://www.msch.org/.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Faith Community Center, Faith, SD. The funeral will follow at 2:00 pm at the Faith Community Center, Faith, SD. Burial will follow at the Faith Cemetery.
