BELLE FOURCHE, SD – Bodhi Linde can read music. He just prefers to play by ear. The 13-year-old plays a lot of instruments, most of them self-taught. Audiences will get to hear the talented guitar, banjo and mandolin picker at the summer series of “The Opry,” set for Sun., Aug. 7 at the Belle Fourche Community Center beginning at 3p.m.
Bodhi, from Rapid City, has been playing since he was five years old. Along with piano, guitar, banjo and mandolin, he’s proficient in clarinet, alto and tenor saxaphone, obo, trumpet and cello. He is a member of the All State Middle School Orchestra and the All State Jazz Band. While he’s naturally gifted, Bodhi came to music through hardship.
As part of “The Opry,” Bodhi will join “The Lonesome Duvs,” on stage along with another special guest, well known Black Hills musician Brent Morris. “The Lonesome Duvs,” include award winning, seasoned entertainers and recording artists. The singers/songwriters/musicians are Kimberly Kaye, Pegie Douglas, Katie Lautenschlager and Sherry Ann Taylor. From the Black Hills of South Dakota there is no mistaking that deep baritone voice of Brent Morris. He’s a true throwback to the sound of the country legends.
His Mom and Dad are among his biggest supporters. Dan books gigs and plays drums with his son who has set himself some ambitious goals.
Self-taught with an ‘ear’ for music, Bodhi, who is a big Wilt Brothers fan and sits in from time to time, says he can’t wait to hit “The Opry,” stage.
