Bonnie Jean Kopecky Wilson was born May 10, 1945, to Gordon and Winnie (Morford) Kopecky at Cloquet, Minnesota. She attended her elementary school in the Hyde County, Eden Township and graduated from Polo High School. She married Arthur Wilson, July 31, 1965, and to this union five children were born: Tammy, Ted, Tracey, Troy, and Terri.
She resided in Sturgis, SD, at the time of her death. Bonnie started her health care career working in local nursing homes. With the support of her family she started her own Elderly Residential Care Home, known as “Bonnie’s”, which later led to co-ownership of Our House Elderly Home and in 2016 co-ownership of Mountain View Elderly Residential Care Home in Sturgis. In her work and in her personal life she touched many lives and was loved by all.
Bonnie is survived by her children: Tammy, Ted (Jenny), and Tracey; her loving grandchildren: Devin, Toby, Destiny, Allen, Sr., Martina, Staysha, Josh, Anissa, Adam, Rylan, Alicia, and Jaeden; she was blessed by great grandchildren: Allen, Jr., Paxton, Kelton, Shameena, Moneena, Enalicia, and Tillie Mae Lynn; five sisters: Sharon, Linda (Tom), Judy (D.C.), Kathy (Bill) and Leasa; a brother: Jerry (Cindy); and sister-in-law: Janet Kopecky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, children, Troy and Terri, granddaughters, TanLynn, and Justice, her parents, Gordon and Winnie Kopecky, brothers, Gary “Smokey”, and Ron, and a niece, Jodi Johannsen.
When you hear the songs “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace” or the singer Daniel O’Donnell, we hope you will think of our mom.
