Boy reported missing found safe

PINE RIDGE, S.D. – An autistic 3-year-old boy who wandered away from his home was found safe Saturday morning.

The boy, who has a history of wandering off, was reported missing from an area north of Pine Ridge early Saturday morning.

The boy, identified as Karson Pourier, was last  seen at his home near the intersection of U.S. Highway 18 and Tobacco Road.

The Civil Air Patrol was joined by a Lifeflight helicopter, a SDNG helicopter, a South Dakota Highway Patrol airplane and many  ground searchers.

The Oglala Sioux Tribe’s Emergency Manager reported mid-morning Saturday that Karson had been found safe, and, apparently “not worse for the wear.”

He was found by a civilian searcher in a canyon about a mile from his home.
