HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – A fire burning south of Hot Springs has grown to over 300 acres.
Great Plains Fire Dispatch on Sunday reported the Green Acres fire was 340 acres. It was listed at 45% containment.
Federal, state and local resources were battling the blaze, located off Cascade Rd. An estimated 15 to 20 engines were on scene Sunday. South Dakota Wildland Fire also has a dozer, hand crews, engines and other staff assisting in the firefighting effort.
All evacuation notices issued by the Fall River County Sheriff’s Office have been lifted.
Officers are advising the public to stay clear of the area if possible as roads are currently only open to residents of the area.

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – Great Plains Fire Dispatch says fire crews have responded to a wildfire burning south of Hot Springs.
The Green Acres Fire is burning approximately 3 miles southwest of Hot Springs.
Federal, State and Local resources have responded to the blaze, and air support has also been called in.
Witnesses have seen air tankers dropping slurry ahead of the fast moving fire.
The fire is reported to be at 25 acres as white smoke was seen billowing out from the blaze.
Fall River County officials say Cascade Rd (SD Highway 71) is being closed from the hospital to East Cascade Mountain Road for all unnecessary travel. This is not due to the spread of the fire but to traffic congestion, please avoid this area.
Evacuations are starting south of Country view & Green acres – please avoid the area. Fire is heading Northeast at this time. If you live northeast of the current evacuation area please begin preparing to leave.
