SPEARFISH, S.D. – Spearfish fire crews responded to a grass fire on the site of the former Passion Play Tuesday morning.
According to the city of Spearfish, firefighters responded to the blaze quickly, attacking the forward progress of the fire to keep it from spreading to adjacent structures. Structures were threatened, but none were lost or significantly damaged.
Fire crews shut down St. Joe Street near the fire to traffic as crews battled the blaze.
By Tuesday afternoon, crews were performing mop up operations and traffic had resumed as normal in the area.
The fire burned around an acre.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
