STURGIS, S.D. – After more than 28 years of service, Meade County Auditor Lisa Schieffer has tendered her resignation.
She made her announcement during Tuesday’s Meade County Commission meeting.
In a release, Schieffer said it had been a “great honor to serve as Auditor on behalf of the citizens of Meade County,” and that it was with “great difficulty that she announce her resignation,” but did not offer an explanation as to why she was leaving.
Schieffer realizes she is leaving before her term is over, but stated she was extremely grateful for the people of Meade County for their confidence in her.
In her release, Schieffer is requesting the Board of Commissioners have Legislative Audit come in and do a complete audit for the years of 2019 and 2020 under terms of the previous Treasurer and herself.
Schieffer’s resignation will become effective on May 31st.
