Seedstock Show and Sale results from the Black Hills Stock Show, 2022.
ANGUS
RAPID CITY, SD – When the last gate swung shut, the Black Hills Stock Show Angus Sale recorded a littler over a quarter of a million dollars in registered cattle sold.
Bulls consigned averaged $5,244, Bred Heifers $4,250, and Yearling Heifers $3,745.
Lot #11 Chestnut Queen consigned by Chestnut Angus Farm of Pipestone, MN, was Champion Angus Female and High Selling Female. She sold for $10,250 to Kaydence Westooer of Hullet, WY.
Champion Angus Bull Lot #63 T3 Inauguration 205 was cosigned by T3 Angus LLC of Beulah, WY, and bought by Bob May of Mineral Point, WI.
High selling bull Lot #59 Tost Payweight 7115 023H sold for $11,500. He was consigned by Tostenson Family Cattle of Highmore, SD, and purchased by Tim Amdall of Piedmont, SD.
CHAROLAIS
RAPID CITY, SD – The Black Hills Stock Show Charolais Show & Sale was held Tues., February 1. A total of 50 lots lined the show ring prior to the sale. Consignments came from South Dakota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado and Iowa.
Sale averages included Bulls, $5,000, Bred Heifers $5,000, and Yearling Heifers $5,750
Results include the Grand Champion Female that was also the high selling female. Consigned by Thomas Ranch, Harrold, SD, the Outsider daughter showed excellent center body and dimension. Outsider x Ms Kay sold for $20,000 to Gary Danley, Washington, PA.
The Grand Champion Charolais Bull, Lot #34, was consigned by White Rose Charolais, Clearwater, MN, and sold for $12,500 to Thayler Ranch, LaGrange, WY.
The High Selling Bull in the lineup was Lot #23, TC Outer Banks 01J. TC Reds, Ringle, WI, consigned the bull that sold for $16,000 to Cheyenne Charolais, Wasta, SD.
HEREFORD
RAPID CITY, SD – This year’s BHSS Hereford Show and Sale was held Wed., Feb. 2.
Sale averages included $5,633 on Bulls, $2,806 on Yearling Heifers and $3,750 on Bred Heifers.
Muller Cattle, Davis, SD, consigned the Grand Champion Herford Female and the high selling female in the sale. SM Miss Royal 102 sold to Rider Moore, Winner, SD. She sold for $3,750.
Krebs Cattle Company, Gordon, NE, brought what would be selected as the Grand Champion Hereford Bull into the showring, K Hedge Fund 022 ET sold to Forster Ranch/Rafter K Ranch, Gordon, NE, that bid $16,000 to take him home.
The high selling and Reserve Champion Hereford Bull was consigned by Fawcett’s Elm Creek Ranch, Ree Heights, SD. This bull was also the Reserve Grand Champion Horned Bull at the National Western Stock Show. ECR Candi’s Copper 13333ET sold for $47,000 to Casey Perman, Glenham, SD.
SHORTHORN
RAPID CITY, SD – The Shorthorn breed has been a mainstay at the Black Hills Stock Show for 64 years. The show and sale was held Wed., Feb. 2.
Averages this year were $3,360 on Bulls, $2,600 on Bred Heifers, and $2,457 on Yearling Heifers.
The Grand Champion Shorthorn Heifer and high selling female was consigned by Kelly and Lea Anne Strain, Morrill, NE. KLSS Primo Gal 15J sold for $4,000 to Goldhammer Angus, Mitchell, SD.
Vogel Shorthorn Farm, Rogers, ND consigned the Grand Champion Shorthorn Bull, VSF Joker 23J. The bull sold to Terry Eittreim, Scottsbluff, NE for $3,500.
Warner Ranch Shorthorns, LLC, Pavillion, WY, consigned the high selling bull at this year’s sale. Lot 13 sold to Drew Person, Gillette, WY, for $5,000.
RED ANGUS
RAPID CITY, SD – Bulls averaged $4,125, Bred Heifers averaged $3,875, Heifers averaged $3,656. The Grand Champion and High Selling Red Angus Bull was Lot #26X consigned by TC Reds, Wingle, WI. He sold to Westfork Ranch, Loup City, NE for $10,000.
The Grand Champion and High Selling Red Angus Heifer Lot #1 TMAS Ms Fallingwater 9145 Jet exhibited by Thomas Ranch, Harold, SD, brought $6,500, selling to Erquiaga Cattle Company, Rushville, NE.
GELBVIEH
RAPID CITY, SD – Bulls averaged $4,708, Heifers averaged $4,500
The Grand Champion and High selling Gelbvieh Bull was VLK Stunner J179 consigned by Volek Ranch, Highmore, SD. He sold to Raile Cattle Co., Saint Francis, KS for $13,500.
The Grand Champion Gelbveih Heifer was consigned by Wes & Brittney Spencer, Pierre, SD and sold for $5,500 to Gregg Hartman, Pueblo, CO.
LIMOUSIN
RAPID CITY, SD – The averages for the Limousin Sale at the Black Hills Stock Show was $4,019 for Bulls, Heifers, $3,225 and $1,900 for Yearling Heifers.
The Grand Champion and High selling Limousin Heifer was consigned by Wulf Cattle, Morris, MN. Wulf Hornet 0496H sold to Logan DeRungs, Ramona, SD for $4,250.
The Grand Champion and High Selling Limousin Bull, L7 Jukebox 1024J, was consigned by Petersons L7 Bar Limousin, Pukwana, SD. He sold to Wilder Family Limousine, North Sioux City, SD for $9,500.
MAINE-ANJOU
RAPID CITY, SD – Averages for the Maine-Anjou Sale include $5,100 on Bulls, Heifers, $2,700, and Yearling Heifers averaged $4,125.
The Grand Champion Maine-Anjou Bull was consigned by Davis Show Cattle, Hinsdale, MT. Lot #21 DX6 Simply Ice 11J sold to Kendall Bremer, Blakesburg, IA for $4,750.
In females, the Grand Champion Maine-Anjou Heifer was consigned by Holt Cattle Company. Holt TR Ms Dara FJ0230 Company sold to Todd Hazel, Beresford, SD for $4,000.
The High Selling Maine-Anjou Heifer was consigned by Heers Farms, Austin, MN. Lot #4 Patsy sold to Logan Nagel, Kennebec, SD for $6,000.
The High Selling Maine-Anjou Bull Lot #12, EVFM Pendleton 804J was consigned by Eastview Maines, Jasper, MN and sold to Danny Jenkins, Boone, IA for $8,000.
CHI-INFLUENCE
Average for the Black Hills Stock Show Chi-Influence sale were Bulls $3,425, Heifers $9750, and Yearling Heifers $6,333.
The Grand Champion and High selling Chi-Influenced Heifer was consigned by Charlee Holt & Justin Holt Cattle. Lot #5 JHC/JAC Ms Haddy 525H sold for $9,750 to Kessler Livestock,Leola, SD.
The Grand Champion and High Selling Chi-Influenced Bull brought $4,250 from George White, Alva, WY. Lot #6 DSCR Jamal 118J was consigned by Dolieslager Cattle Company, Doon, IA, and sold to George White of Alva WY for $4,250.
SIMMENTAL
RAPID CITY, SD – Hot prices were the name of the game at the Black Hills Stock Show Simmental Sale. Bulls averaged $5,5051, Yearling Heifers averaged $5,900 and Heifers averaged $6,710.
The Grand Champion and High selling Simmental Bull was consigned by Hennessy Show Cattle, Des Lacs, ND. Lot #58 Fhen Four Bears 127H sold to David Aeseth, Velva, ND.
Grand Champion Simmental Heifer was consigned by Hordan Cattle Co., Alva, WY. Lot #15 Jordan 001H sold for $10,500 to Yackley/Hennessy Ranch, Onida, SD.
The High Selling Heifer was Lot #17 WCS Ms Beth 133J consigned and purchased by Western Cattle Source, Crawford, NE for $17,000.
