BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – The Sturgis Scoopers boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Belle Fourche, looking for their first wins of the season. Both the Bronc boys and girls were winless, hoping to get in the win column in front of their home crowd.
The Lady Broncs came back from a 13-6 first quarter deficit to defeat the Scoopers, 40-28 to earn their first victory.
Kaylee Whatley led the Scoopers with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Â Lily McCarty scored 11 points for the Lady Broncs.
The Bronc boys led 22-14 at halftime, then poured it on the Scoopers in the second half en route to their first win, 48-32.
Gavin Lightenberg scored 7 points and snared three boards for Sturgis. Â Anthony Budmayr led Belle Fourche with 13 points and five rebounds.
The Scooper girls (0-2) are at home Friday night against Pierre at 7:30pm and Saturday afternoon at 1:30pm versus Aberdeen Central. Both home games will be live on KBHB radio.
