PIERRE, S.D. – The State of South Dakota has ended the 2024 budget year with an $80.7-million dollar surplus. State Representative Lance Koth of Mitchell is a member of the joint appropriations committee.
State government spent $56.4-million dollars less than appropriated for FY 2024….
Total revenue finished $24.3-million dollars higher than the forecast adopted by the legislature.
Governor Kristi Noem intends to set aside the surplus to offset the cost of prison construction.
