STURGIS, S.D. – The Build Dakota Scholarship team is visiting Sturgis Thursday to present to students at Sturgis Brown High School and the Sturgis Economic Development Corporation has also arranged a special presentation for local businesses.
A Build Dakota Roadshow Industry Presentation for local businesses will take place from 4-5:00 p.m. at Rasmussen Mechanical Services at 3590 Mayer Avenue in the Sturgis Industrial Park.
This scholarship program is not just about education, according to Amanda Anglin with S.E.D.C. It’s a powerful workforce development initiative that is making a real impact on South Dakota’s workforce shortage…
Anglin says hundreds of businesses have successfully utilized Build Dakota funds to address workforce challenges.
She says several topics will be covered…
Anglin says the presentation will give businesses insight on job shadowing and internships for students, upskilling their current workforce from within, and how Build Dakota helps grow the local workforce by sending students off for education and welcoming them back to jobs that are waiting for them.
The state’s four technical schools currently honor the full ride Build Dakota Scholarships for students who qualify in a number of programs.
