Caravan collides with snowplow in Boulder Canyon

STURGIS, S.D. – The highway patrol says a crash involving a snowplow in Boulder Canyon this past Thursday sent five people to the hospital.

In a release, the patrol says the accident happened at 10:15 p.m. as a 2014 Freightliner Snowplow was traveling easbound on U.S. Highway 14A near mile marker 43.

The driver of a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan was heading westbound when he lost control and crossed the centerline, colliding with the snowplow.

The driver of the Caravan was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and charges are pending against him. Four other passengers in the Caravan were also taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

The driver of the snowplow was not injured.

The highway patrol is investigating the crash.
