RAPID CITY, SD – The St. Thomas More Cavaliers started slow but finished strong, beating the Sturgis Scoopers 53-15.
St. Thomas More led 2-0 with more than three minutes gone in the first quarter. Neither team could seem to find the bucket as the Cavs took a 10-0 lead into the second. St. Thomas More outscored Sturgis 13-8 to take a 23-8 lead into the locker room at the half.
Caleb Hollenbeck had a monster third quarter for STM, scoring 16 of the Cavs 20 points. The Cavaliers led 43-15 after three and held the Scoopers scoreless in the fourth to run away with a 53-15 victory.
Hollenbeck finished the night with 20 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the field, with Cade Kandolin adding 13 and four rebounds. St. Thomas More improves to 9-0 on the season.Â
Tyan Buus led the Scoopers (1-7) with four points.Â
The Scooper boys and girls teams travel to Rapid City Christian on Tuesday. You can listen to both games here on KBHB radio. The girls game is scheduled to tip off at 6:30pm.Â
