Champions crowned as Class AA, A and B Golf Tournament wraps up

UNDATED – The 2021 SDHSAA spring state golf championships concluded on Tuesday from Brookings, Spearfish, and Sioux Falls.

At the Girls Class AA:

Sioux Falls O’Gorman won the team title, finishing with the overall low score of 54. Mitchell came in second with an 89 and Aberdeen Central was third with a 98.

For West River teams, Rapid City Stevens finished in 5th and Spearfish was 12th.

Winning the individual title was Reese Jansa of Harrisburg with a 134. Shannon McCormick of Sioux Falls O’Gorman was second with a 145 and her teammate Lauren Sutcliffe finished in third. Top placing West River athlete was Tanna Phares of Rapid City Stevens, who finished in a two way tie for seventh.

At the Girls Class A tournament:

Sioux Falls Christian won the team title with a 143 with Sisseston in second. Winner placed third and Vermillion was fourth. St Thomas More finished in fifth and Hot Springs was sixth.

Maiya Muller of Beresford won the individual title with a 155 and Kelsey Heath of Sisseton was second one stroke back. Rylan Horning of St Thomas More finished in fourth and Jessi Schroeder of Hot Springs finished in 10th.

At the Class B Girls tournament:

Estelline/Hendricks won the team title with a score of 122 with Bison finishing in second two strokes back.

Winning the individual title was Jayce Pugh of Miller with a 158. Two Bison athletes finished in the top five with Allison Kahler tied for second and Greta Anderson finishing in fourth.

At the Class B Boys tournament:

Chester won the team title with a low score of 68. Platte/Geddes was second with a 70 and Deubrook was third. For West River teams, Gregory was 6th, Wall was 8th and Rapid City Christian was 12th.

Winning the individual title was Brody Boltjes with a 152 with Bennett Cassens of Faulkton in second one stroke back. Top placing West River athlete was Reid Hanson of Wall, tied for fifth, with a 157.
