STURGIS, S.D. – Charges are pending against a juvenile after a one vehicle rollover on I-90 Sunday morning.
Sturgis Police Chief Geody VanDewater says officers assisted the SD Highway Patrol with an injury accident at mile marker 33 on I-90. Initial reports were there was multiple juveniles that ran from the car and the driver had minor injuries. A search was conducted of the area with no luck locating any additional juveniles. The driver was transported to Sturgis Hospital.
He says as officers investigated further, It was determined the juvenile stole the vehicle from a residence in Sturgis just moments prior to the accident and was the lone actor and no other juveniles were with him at the time of the accident.
The accident is being investigated by the South Dakota Highway Patrol. Sturgis Police Department is investigating the stolen vehicle.
Charges are pending for the juvenile.
