Charles E. Wood, 72, of Box Elder, SD, passed away due to a massive stroke on October 31, 2024 at Monument Health in Rapid City.
He was born to Addison and Beulah (Paddock) Wood on October 26, 1952 in Sparta, Wisconsin the youngest of four children.
Charlie married Sandra Richer on February 19, 1972, and together they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Michelle and Kristina.
He later married Barbara Daniells on April 11, 1987, DiAnn Bedessem on November 29, 1995, and Damarys Moreno on July 17, 2014.
Charlie started out working for the railroad, then became a mechanic and worked at Ft. McCoy for many years, before moving to South Dakota to run a business with his brother. He drove truck for a construction company, worked maintenance at the hospital and served as a councilman for the City of Box Elder. He loved the area and would jump at the chance to play tour guide for visiting family and friends. He enjoyed putting together model cars and woodworking, and always had some project to work on in his garage.
He is survived by his wife, Damarys of Box Elder; his children, Michelle (Micheal) Morrin, and Kristina Wood, both of Ladysmith, WI; grandchildren, Reid (Morgan), Rachel, Rebekah and Roslyn Morrin, his brother Ronald (Sumang) Wood of Box Elder, SD; his sister Rosemarie Caskey of Tomah, WI; his step-children; many nephews, nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Addison and Beulah Wood, his sister Carol Wood, his grandson Micheal E. P. Morrin, and his beloved dog, Diesel.
A local Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the American Legion Post 315, 730 Briggs Street, Box Elder, SD.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Meadow Valley Community Church, 33907 City Rd EE, Warrens, WI 54666. Visitation will be at 10 am, service at 11 am followed by a luncheon. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Millston after the meal.
