Checks presented to Shop with a Cop program

STURGIS, S.D. – The American Legion Post 33 and V.F.W. Sturgis presented checks Thursday for the local “Shop with a Cop” program.

The legion presented $1,000 and the V.F.W. $400 to Officer Matthew Jacobs, who is the School Resource Officer for Sturgis Elementary and Sturgis Williams Middle School.

The checks were presented during a ceremony at the Sturgis Vets Club.

Donations were collected in large part from the Legion Spaghetti Feed held at the club last Thursday.

The Shop with a Cop program provides holiday gifts for underprivileged children as they shop with a local police officer or chaperone.
