STURGIS, S.D. – The city of Sturgis announced over the weekend a decision to discontinue the Hometown Market.
The city wrote “This difficult decision was influenced by budget constraints.”
The Market has been a valuable platform for showcasing our local vendors, crafters, and producers, particularly after the pandemic limited many traditional avenues for selling goods.
But, the city says upon reviewing the Market’s business model, it became evident that the fees collected were insufficient to cover the city’s expenses in maintaining the endeavor.
One of the core principles of the Hometown Market is supporting the local community. By purchasing items from the market, customers contributed to the growth and success of their neighbors.
The market was located at 1123 Main Street.
