City of Sturgis Public Works pleads ‘please don’t steal our temporary signs’

STURGIS, S.D. – The City of Sturgis Public Works puts in a lot of time not only during the annual motorcycle rally, but also for its preparation.

Preparation includes the placement of ‘Dead End’ and ‘No Outlet’ signs in residential areas of town.

City officials were disappointed to find out someone took two of them over the past couple of days.

In a Facebook post, the Public Works Department wrote:

“To the person or persons who removed the temporary dead end sign from Fulton Street and Shephard Street intersection. We put these signs out to both help people from out of the area to navigate and not end up in areas that have no outlet as well as for our residents to cut down on traffic in areas that go no where. The City of Sturgis does not have a endless supply of these signs and lights and will not replace them. We are not sure why you felt the need to take this sign and would appreciate if you would simply return it. If any one sees things that do not seem right please call the Sturgis Public Works Dept @ 605-347-3916 or the Sturgis Police Dept @ 605-347-2573.”
