Classic country music, story telling part of summer performance of “The Opry”

BELLE FOURCHE, SD – If you think the sound of classic country is a thing of the past, look no further than ‘The Opry’ to get your fix for live entertainment.

The old-time classic country concert series presents a lineup annually at various Black Hills venues.  This year in Belle Fourche, Sunday, Aug. 7 at the Belle Fourche Community Hall, expect a signature classic country Opry style performance featuring “The Lonesome Duvs,” with special guests Brent Morris and Bodhi Linde.

“The Lonesome Duvs,” include award winning, seasoned entertainers and recording artists. The singers/songwriters/musicians are  Kimberly Kaye, Pegie Douglas, Katie Lautenschlager and  Sherry Ann Taylor. Banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, stand-up bass and vocals blend together in harmonies, riffs and musical story telling.

Founding band member and producer of “The Opry,” Kimberly Kaye likens the entire show as, “going back in time.”

From the Black Hills of South Dakota there is no mistaking that deep baritone voice of Brent Morris. He’s a true throwback to the sound of the country legends. When Brent strikes the strings of that guitar and belts out a classic, it’s a journey to the nostalgic past.

Am emerging artist in the Black Hills is 13-year-old Brohdi Linde of Rapid City. He will be on the stage of “The Opry,” bringing jaw-dropping banjo and guitar licks and riffs in solo performances and also joining the full band.  He has mastered multiple instruments, and plays orchestra and band.  But he really turns loose on a set of strings. Self-taught, the young performer is a well-rounded entertainer, at a young age.

Bringing all the music and story telling on stage to audiences is ‘The Voice of the Opry,’ Bill Palanuk.  The well-known radio announcer and television personality and promoter of the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame, brings his knowledge of ‘all things cowboy,’ to Opry audiences. Tickets for the 3pm performance are available through the Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce.  See “The Opry” on Facebook.
