Cobblers Outlast Scoopers

STURGIS, SD – The Rapid City Central Cobbler softball team earned their second win of the season on Monday afternoon, beating the Sturgis Scoopers, 17-8.

Central came out hot, plating 10 runs in the first three innings and led 10-1 headed into the bottom of the third.

Sturgis took advantage of Cobbler errors and scored six runs in the bottom of the third to close the gap on Central. Rapid City led 10-7 after three innings.

Sturgis could only manage one more run over the final four innings and Central pulled away for the 17-8 victory.

Shantel Anderson led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Rapid City Central. Anderson surrendered eight runs on 13 hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out four.

Bella Cramer was the starting pitcher for Sturgis and surrendered 11 runs on eight hits over two and a third innings, striking out three and walking one. Brooke Wolf threw four and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen for the Scoopers.

Rapid City Central (2-2) saw the ball well on Monday, racking up 20 hits in the game. Ally Davis had four singles and a double with one RBI to lead the Cobblers. Raylee Jones went 3-for-6 and added two RBIs for Central.

Sturgis pounded out 13 hits and were led by Haley Walker, who went 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run to lead the Scoopers.

Sturgis falls to 0-4 on the season and travel east on Friday to take on Sioux Falls Washington.
