STURGIS, S.D. – This week’s Drought Monitor Map showed continued improvement, thanks to more recent moisture.
Most of western South Dakota is in the moderate drought stage, with pockets of severe and extreme drought across several counties.
Meade County is in the moderate stage, with the exception of the eastern side of the county which remains in severe drought.
The two areas of extreme drought remain in Ziebach and Haakon County.
Far northwestern South Dakota is listed as abnormally dry.
With the exception of the far western edge of North Dakota, which is abnormally dry, none of North Dakota is in drought conditions.
Northeast Wyoming is listed as abnormally dry to moderate drought and southeast Montana is also abnormally dry with areas of moderate drought.
