COVID-19 active cases continue to fall; 17 new cases reported Monday

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 in their Monday report with 4 of those 17 listed as probable.

Active cases across the state totaled 217 and the number of people hospitalized due to the virus dropped from 34 Friday to 26 today.

No new deaths were reported, keeping the state’s death toll at 2,026.

Across the Black Hills area, Meade, Lawrence, Butte and Custer were all downgraded from moderate community spread to minimal. Pennington County is the lone west river county still listed under moderate spread.

New cases across the Black Hills today totaled 3. Pennington County had one, new confirmed case and Meade County had one confirmed case and one probable case.

Active cases in Pennington County are down to 46. In Lawrence County, active cases have dropped to 8 and in Meade County, they total 10.

Butte County has 10 active cases as of today, Custer County has 3, Fall River totals 5 and there is only one active case remaining in Oglala Lakota.
