SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Health Officials say during the past week, South Dakota had 52 COVID-19 cases reported per day along with 41 new confirmed cases of the Delta variant.
A note on the state Department of Health COVID-19 dashboard says this is an increase of 68% from the 31 cases per day reported the previous week.
In their weekly report, issued today, health officials noted 374 confirmed cases of the virus with 55 probable cases for a total of 429.
Active cases increased by 223 over last week to 657. The number of people hospitalized rose by 6 this week to 39.
Seven new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,050.
Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County saw 91 new cases this past week. OF those, 2 were listed as probable.
Meade County also had 2 new probable cases, along with 14 confirmed cases.
Custer County had the third most this past week with 11 new cases and Lawrence County added 9.
Butte, Fall River and Oglala Lakota County all added 6 new cases each.
As of Wednesday, 59% of the population 12-years-old and above has received at least one dose while 54.24% have completed the vaccination series.
