PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials reported 1,944 new cases of COVID-19 Friday with 366 of those listed as probable.
Active cases have climbed to 15,927 while the number of people hospitalized fell by 4 to 301.
Two new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,522. New deaths were reported in Lincoln and Walworth Counties.
New cases across the Black Hills area included 235 in Pennington County, with 38 of those considered as probable.
Meade County reported 49 total new cases with 3 of those probable and Lawrence County had 40 new cases with 3 probable.
Elsewhere, Butte and Custer County each added 11 new cases while Fall River County and Oglala Lakota County each reported 10.
