COVID-19 hospitalizations up slightly but case numbers holding steady

PIERRE, SD – Hospitalizations were up slightly in Tuesday’s COVID-19 report.  There were 103 compared to 96 the day before.

Newly confirmed cases were reported at 118 with an additional 32 probable – both numbers also up from yesterday’s report.

One new death was reported.

South Dakota continues to be among the nationwide leaders in distributing vaccines. According to CDC data, 53.97% of South Dakotans have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine and 43.38% have completed the full vaccine series.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported  15 new cases and 162 active cases. There were no new cases in Meade, Butte and Fall River Counties.  Custer County reported two new cases and 18 active cases. Oglala County reported one new case and 10 active cases.
