COVID cases continue to drop – 111 new cases reported Monday

PIERRE, S.D. – The Monday COVID report from the Department of Health shows cases continuing to decline across the state.

Just 111 new cases were reported as active cases dropped to 5,075. The number of people hospitalized remained at 171.

Three new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,805. One of those new deaths was out of Pennington County.

Across the Black Hills area, there were a total of 31 new cases. Pennington County accounted for 23 of those and Oglala Lakota County had 5.

The remaining three were out of Meade, Butte and Custer counties.

With the decline in cases, Butte, Meade and Fall River County all dropped from “high” community spread to “substantial.”
