Crash closes portion of -I-90 east of Wall Tuesday Morning

WALL, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office say a significant crash closed a portion of I-90 Tuesday morning.

The closure was between Exit 110 at Wall and Exit 131 at Cactus Flats and involved a law enforcement vehicle.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says a sheriff’s vehicle was rear-ended by an S-U-V.

According to a social media post, Jackson County Sheriff Tucker Amiotte and the S-U-V driver both survived. Pictures shared by the sheriff’s office show the law enforcement vehicle significantly damaged.

The crashes were in the area of mile marker 125.

It wasn’t the only accident involving a law enforcement officer today. The highway patrol says one of their troopers was involved in a rear end crash near Vermillion.
